Mayes County Fairground Improvements

Pryor, Oklahoma

BKL designed the new campus for the Mayes County Fairgrounds. The site is 39-acres and includes an existing outdoor rodeo arena, an agricultural building, and a large multi-use facility that replaced the existing exhibit hall and agricultural building and includes new exhibition space, large gathering rooms for public use, and offices for various entities including the Oklahoma State University Extension Services, United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), and other agencies.

The master plan for the campus also included the complete design of a 100,000 SF arena with a dirt-floor performance area, viewing stands, and an enclosed air-conditioned lobby providing access to concessions and restrooms. The arena is well-suited for a broad range of activities including rodeos, horse shows, multiple livestock events, and other exhibits that require large spaces. Contained within the arena is a flexible area that can place additional seating or house more livestock, which also includes wash-bays and restrooms.

The existing show barn and attached buildings were also updated with new electrical power, lighting, and exterior siding. The entire facility is now much better equipped to host a broad range of events for Mayes County and the surrounding community.

Mayes County and BKL have a strong history of collaboration and we are currently working on additional renovations and expansions for the fairgrounds.
